I recently came across an interesting article that tries to answer the question:
Can Microsoft and Twitter save the dying Urdu nastaliq script from the hegemony of the Western alphabet and an overbearing Arab cousin?
It is a few years old, but I believe still very much current. What do you think? Is there a danger of the Urdu Script dying out? What role does digitalisation and the rise of social media play in all of this? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think of “Nasq” and “Nastaliq” versus “Roman Urdu”.
