At Zubaan we observe all public holidays that are announced by the federal government at the beginnig of each year.

That means no classes including online classes are held on those days.

We do not observe

  • provincial holidays
  • additional holidays that are announced by provincial or federal government last minute
  • public holidays that are observed by other countries. This includes e.g. holidays like Good Friday, Easter Monday, etc.

Please be aware that some Islamic holidays are depending on the sighting of the moon.

If in doubt, call or message us to ask if we will be open.

You can contact our Customer Relationship Manager Ms. Samra Shaikh at office@zubaantraining.net

For Prospective Students & Customers

We offer Urdu classes at our centers in Karachi and Islamabad, Pakistan and online for students world-wide. In addition, we can also come to your office/home if you live in Karachi or Islamabad (certain conditions apply). We currently charge up to 80 Rs/km for traveling charge for classes outside of our offices.

Classes usually take place between 8 am and 6:30pm Pakistani time (GMT+5), Monday-Fridays. We also have some availabilities outside of these hours. Contact us for details.

This is completely up to you! Some students do 1-week crash courses, others stay with us for several years. You purchase a package of a certain amount of lessons (for example 10, 20, or 40 hours). Once your lessons are used up, you can renew your hours to continue on.

Here you will find descriptions for our courses, though the courses can always be customized to fit your specific learning needs.

The cost of the classes varies (for example, if it is in-person/online, private/group class, etc.). Prices range from around 1,100-3000 PKR per hour (currency converter). There is discount available for group classes. Contact us to receive your individualized price estimate.

We use a communicative, modern approach to language teaching. The goal of all our lessons is for you to learn to communicate in real-life situations from the start. For beginner students (Level A1), we use our own curriculum, Qadam. For other students, we use a mix of materials, including “Beginning Urdu  – A complete course” (Georgetown University Press), our own Urdu Grammar Workbook, and other materials that Zubaan has developed. This is one more way we are innovators in Urdu learning.

Several of our teachers are trained and experienced in teaching according to the Growing Participator Approach (GPA). Upon request, we can design our courses to follow the GPA.

If you would like to learn to read and write in Urdu, we can include that in your course. However, it is not a requirement. For beginner students we usually recommend focusing on listening and speaking first.

Occasionally students (especially with an Urdu-speaking background) only want to only focus on reading and writing. We also have this available.

We use our “Reading & Writing Workbook” (now in its 4th edition). This workbook is also suitable for self-study. All audios are available free of cost on our website.

Yes. All non-beginner students are required to do a short placement assessment, which is free of cost.  In addition, we can do an assessment of your level at the end of your course (or any other time you wish). The assessments are done on the basis of the Common European Framework of References — You can learn more about that here.

Yes! We offer one free 30-minute trial class for all our courses.

We use Zoom and an online whiteboard program called Miro. It allows for teachers and students to interact in real-time.

You will need a computer or tablet, headset with microphone, and ideally also an integrated camera. In addition, you will need a stable internet connection.

Yes, of course. Before your first class, we will give you a short introduction to the program and show you how to use the most important functions. The program is easy to use and does not require any specialized skills.

We offer group, semi-private (two students) and private (one student) classes. Most beginner students prefer our small-group classes and intermediate/ advance students tend to go for individual classes. This gives you more flexibility in timings, course duration, and content.

We have both female and male teachers. If you have a preference, please let us know during the registration process. We always do our best to honor your requests.

You can pay by credit card (online), direct bank transfer, cheque & cash (for Pakistan only). We provided the necessary payment details in our invoices.

Yes, our teachers regularly teach children of a variety of ages.

Absolutely! Any classes that you purchase are valid for live classes in Pakistan and online. Several of our students switch back and forth between live and online classes.

No classes take place on public holidays as announced by the government of Pakistan. For our international clients, we will always try to send you a reminder a few days before any official holiday. You can find a list of common Pakistan holidays here.

No problem at all. Most of our packages allow you to cancel a class without getting charged up to 24 hours in advance (*terms & conditions depend on the package you purchased). For more details, please contact us.

Happily! We wrote our own textbooks to provide an accessible resource for teachers and self-learners alike. You can find those in our shop. Here’s a site all about our Urdu beginner series, Qadam, with accompanying resources. You can visit this page for a list of free resources we recommend.
